A two-month voyage around Australia is being halted days after the tragic passing of an senior female passenger who was left behind by the vessel on a distant island.

The passenger had been walking on the tropical location with other travelers from the cruise ship, but separated from the party for a break. The ship departed without her and came back later that day after the crew realised the woman was unaccounted for.

A major rescue mission discovered her remains the subsequent day.

Investigative bodies are investigating the incident, alongside police and the official investigator.

The CEO of the shipping company announced that travelers and staff on the Coral Adventurer were notified that the remainder of the cruise had been terminated due to the "tragic passing and prior technical problems".

In a statement, he added that passengers would be provided a full refund, and said the company was working "to arrange the return journeys of the passengers via chartered flights".

Authorities also published an updated communication, and said they had "delivered a order to the Master" banning any new passengers from boarding the ship.

The representative said that they would inspect the vessel in Cairns upon its coming back.

The ship first departed Cairns on October 24th, and was only 48 hours into the journey at the point of the elderly woman's death. Lizard Island was the initial destination on the itinerary.

Travelers on the vessel - who generally pay substantial amounts of money to take part in the voyage - were taken there for a day trip with the option of hiking or snorkelling.

The child of the victim said that her loved ones was "stunned and distressed that the vessel left the location after an scheduled tour without my mum".

In her statement, she characterized her mother as an "energetic elderly person" who was a member of a walking organization.

"Based on limited information we have been told, it appears that there was a failure of attention and ordinary reasoning," she mentioned.

She added that she desired the investigation would be able to pinpoint what "the organization should have performed that might have protected Mother's existence".

"We understand from the investigators that it was a exceptionally warm period, and mum became unwell on the mountain ascent," she stated.
